How conferences and award events can help you
| |||||||
| There's a trade show for just about every industry you can name. There are conferences for all sorts of niche specialties and hobbies held every day all over the world. Why should it be any different for independent music? There has long been a definable indie community, and for decades there have been indie music conferences that pull these factions together to interact, showcase, learn, and network with each other. There are also a huge number of other events - awards programs, showcase series, song contests, band battles - and it's up to you to determine which, if any, you want to pursue. The question is, where do you start? Read the full article here Find a conference that benefits you Or: What to consider when you are choosing conferences and events to attend by Jim Attebery, Founder of the Durango Songwriter's Expo For those of you looking to attend artist/songwriter conventions in the near future, asking yourself a few key questions can be beneficial in making your decision. Public radio fund drives
I've not tried this but in theory, it should work. There's a couple different things that could be done:
You could give a CD to everyone who gives over a certain amount during, like, a two hour period.
You could have every one who pledges to enter a drawing to win your CD.

A great tool!

I just got this email, and wondered if any of you have experience with this company?
Hi Joe,
Just in case we didn't already contact you... What are you currently doing to get airplay and charting for your most current release? That's what we do... artists hire us to get them airplay and charting on stations in the U.S. and Canada. I can send you some details in the email if you like... just let me know if this is a good email and I'll get them to you. Also... would love to get your physical CD or EP too, when it gets here, let's talk!

Take your CDs to Artists' Own
If you have not done so already, take your CDs down to
Artists' Own cooperative. They will sell your CDs in
their store for a reasonable fee. I have had good
success there with both joedaiwarriors' CDs, "Given
Birth" and "Rebirth." Note, however, that you will
have to pay taxes on the revenue, as AO reports sales
to the IRS.
